Foods That Look Similar But Are Different
why I am telling you this, right? I am sharing this because this is the same case with these foods which are totally different but are thought to be the same. People since time and age have been confused between the two and then think they are the same thing. If you don't want these foods to go through the same tragedy as I do on a daily basis, then don your reading glasses and read away. I know you will understand my pain!
1. Dal Bafla and Dal Baati
Dal Bafla and Dal Baati are not the same. They may look similar but the process to cook them differs by a step. If you are cooking Dal Bafla, then first you will have to make the dough, boil it and then bake it. Whereas, with Dal Baati, the dough is made and directly baked which is why Dal Bafla is softer in texture both inside out than Baati which is hard on the outside and soft on the inside. Now that you know which is your favourite?
2. chowmein and Noodles
Chowmein and Noodles are two different things in terms of everything. When it comes to Spaghetti, then it is safe to say that it comes from Italy, thicker than noodles, made from wheat flour and eaten with a fork.
Whereas when it is about Noodles, then it belongs to China, made from different ingredients and eaten with chopsticks.
3. Muffin and Cupcake
Dear readers, there is a difference between the two.
If you are making a muffin, then the batter is denser as it is beaten for a brief period. It is lumpier in nature. Cupcakes are beaten for a longer time making it airier. It has a uniformness of air bubbles. And one significant difference is that cupcakes have frosting and muffins don't.
4. Dim sums and Momos
Dim sums are a gift from China while Momos come from Tibet. The former are small bite-sized portions of food, offered with tea. The word 'dim sums' stand for 'touch the heart' and are just a light snack. The latter is an unofficial national dish served with hot and spicy chilli sauce, according to a Quora thread.
Now that you are aware, go show off!
